FAQ

How can Reiki help me?

A: Reiki is a path to personal and spiritual growth which assists in the process of healing at all levels: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. By promoting awareness of your spiritual nature and the universal energy available to you, you will begin to truly understand what is best for you in each moment, be clearer about what actions to take, and over time, begin to take steps to align yourself outwardly in your everyday life. To learn more, check out this post from The Practical Empath Blog about Reiki.

Is Reiki a Religion?

A: No. Reiki is a method for personal and spiritual growth. It can be used to complement any belief system.

Do I have to be spiritual to practice Reiki?

A: Reiki is designed to improve your sense of spiritual connection. Whether or not you see yourself as a spiritual person today, just having an openness to cultivating this side of yourself is enough to serve as a launching point.

What type of Reiki do you teach at the CRHC?

A: I teach what I like to call Relatable Reiki, Reiki teaching that integrates both the esoteric with the practical. Through concrete action, energetic understanding, and awareness, and by using the strategies learned in your class, Relatable Reiki is designed for personal and spiritual growth and for use in everyday life. View Reiki classes here.

What are your credentials?

A: I began my formal training in 1994 and have been teaching Reiki for 30 years. I have completed training at the Master’s Level for Essential Reiki, Usui Reiki, and Karuna Reiki.

In 2001, I began taking a more personalized approach to my teaching, which I now call Relatable Reiki. I actively pursue continued education and a commitment to inner work for personal and spiritual growth. I am also a member in good standing with the International Reiki Association.

I have worked as a Reiki Practitioner in traditional medical and naturopathic clinics, and a rehabilitation center and presented in the community and corporations on the subject of Reiki and healing. In addition, I have offered local Reiki Share Evenings to encourage community for those who practice or are interested in Reiki and learning how to begin to live in tune with their true nature and inner wisdom.

My students and clients are located throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe.

What is your Reiki lineage?

A: I was taught Reiki 1 by Brie and Reiki 2 by Skye Farris, both local Reiki Masters in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I then completed my Reiki Master’s training in the United States with Diane Stein. I was also Attuned and trained to the Master’s Level by Lyn Goddard for Usui Reiki and Ruth Hawkins for Karuna Reiki, which follows William Rand’s lineage. All Reiki teachers’ lineage is ultimately traced through to its founder, Mikao Usui.

Do you belong to a Reiki Association?

A: Yes, I belong to the International Reiki Association.

How much time is suggested between the different levels of Reiki?

A: It is essential to take time between classes in order to integrate new knowledge and practices within your daily life. I recommend that my students wait at least a month before embarking on the next level of training.

Are there age restrictions on your classes?

A: In general, students must be over 18 years of age. Exceptions may be granted for students under 18 years of age if they have the consent of a parent/guardian who has previously taken Reiki 1 with me or another teacher and is willing to join their child in class.

I took Reiki classes ages ago. Do I need to start back at the beginning?

A: A free 15-minute consultation is offered to determine where would be a good place to start based on your history, experience with Reiki, and your current needs and goals.

Do you offer in-person Reiki Classes and Workshops outside the CRHC or can you come to me?

A: Classes and Workshops can be arranged at your location. Please contact me to further discuss your needs.

I live in another country, can I still take your classes?

A: Yes, we can arrange for an online class. All classes are held in Eastern Standard Time.

Is it ok to have more than one Reiki Teacher?

A: Definitely! Having different teachers increases the diversity of your experience. There are many styles of Reiki classes and content available. What is important is that you find the Reiki Teacher that you connect with, are comfortable with, and whose style of teaching suits your needs.

Do you offer ongoing support to your students once courses are completed?

A: Yes, I am available for brief questions via email, telephone, or in person. If a longer session is needed, I offer hourly consultations.

What is an Attunement?

A: A Reiki Attunement is a kind of Spiritual/Energetic blessing offered by a Reiki Master Teacher. An Attunement creates space by dissipating the energy that no longer serves you, making room for a more positive, uplifting energy flow. Learn more about Reiki Attunements at the Practical Empath Blog.
